Merits of Surah Kahf

Here is a SaHeeH (Authentic) hadeeth that talks about the great merits we will attain if we were to read Soorah Al-Kahf (18) during Friday night, which is Thursday night for people who use the Gregorian calendar.

From Muhammad bin Abee Hamzah said, Aboo `Abd Allaah (عليه السلام) said: “Whoever recited Soorah Al-Kahf on every Friday night (i.e. Thursday night for Gregorian calendars) it will be an atonement (for sins) for what is between Jumu`ah (Friday) to (the next) Jumu`ah (Friday)”

  2. Assalaamu `Alaykum Brother Khaalid,

This hadeeth doesn't specify if it includes major sins or if it is just restricted to minor sins. I do not want to speculate and try to add my opinion on the hadeeth. So I will just take it at face value as it is a كَفَّارَة (kaffaarah - atonement for sins)
