How Many Daughters did The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) have?

How many daughters did the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) have? Unfortunately, this has become the question. How can this be? The very reason why we are on this beautiful religion of Islaam, that being because of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), and now we are having ikhtilaaf (differences) on how many daughters he had?

In this article, I will prove through Shee`ah books, that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) did indeed have 4 daughters from Khadeejah (عليها السلام), and not just one daughter as it is popularly circulated. The four daughters being Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthoom and FaaTimah, may peace be upon them all, the best of them being FaaTimah (عليها السلام).

  3. Nader! the article is great and indeed the prophet (saww) had four daughters but I see Efendi is using your articles and i don't believe he does it without your consent. so can you swear by Allah that you are not in touch with this nasibi and that you didn't give him the green light to post your article on his blog???

  4. Brother, Efendi has been using my articles WAYY before I even realized it. Actually, I was told my many people that he was using them, I found out because of people telling me. From what I heard and seen, he is quoting me exactly, not editing out anything, so I he isn't changing up my words. This is a bid`ah which has been started by a horrible guy, if you read the article fully, you'll see we should have no problem exposing the truth.

  6. Even though i disagree with you on many issues but i am fair even to my opponents so i have to say that this article is fantastic indeed and shows how ignorants people like jafar murtadha al-amili (the liar) is when he denied that the prophet had four daughter. i myself did an article about this but not half as good as yours.
by the way you promised to publish my article about tawassol but it seems you changed your mind so can you give me your reasons?

  7. is it also right that RASOUL(S.A.W.W) also had three sons from hazrat Khdija(s.a) but they did not survive, they were Qasim, Tayyab & Tahir.

  8. @ Brother Wasil,

Thank you for those kind words brother.

I have been busy with my article, I just finished so I will email you my thoughts.

@ Adeel, there has been some ikhtilaaf (differences) on the sons. From most sources it seems like there were 6 children, 2 sons & 4 daughters.

  9. Classic! By Allah, this is a classic job! Well done bro Nader! Of course, I disagree with you on some points and methodologies. But this particular article is of the HIGHEST degree of quality possible.

It has re-shaped my view on the issue of the daughters of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his family.

  11. Yes out of these four daughters, Prophet (pbuh) married two of them to sons of Abu Jehal. When Prophet (pbuh) came to know that he is a prophet and he declared his prophethood, the marriage was dissolved. Then these two daughters were married to Hadhrat Uthman therefore, he is called Zun norain.

  13. Assalam o Alikum WR WB !!! Your article is quite explicit with regards to the daughters of Prophet (SAWAW). However, on the contrary, there is another article on the same with a heading of banatun nabi in pdf written in urdu by Mir Murad Ali Khan at Ziarat.net in comparative religion section. Please study the article if u know urdu and reply accordingly. Jazak Allah

  14. Wa `Alaykum Assalaam wa raHmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

I haven't read that particular book, but I have read the arguments, and they all analyze it from Sunni books, and not from Shee`ah books. There are no hadeeth from the A'immah that EXPLICITLY state that FaaTimah (SA) was the ONLY daughter. Also, when they attempt to use Shee`ah sources they try to use implicit sources to justify this belief.

    Assalaamu `Alaykum

Your article is marvelous, but may I know, that have you got an Ijazah from any university in regards to Ilm Al-Rijal & Ilm Al-Dirayah, or you yourself analysing these issues voluntarily. Are you learned enough to declare false some Shiah beliefs like the issue you have raised in this article of yours ?

  20. Salami .there was only one daughter of prophet pbuh .if there was any one more would have been killed by Muslims ...read history .if other two were married with the kalifas why they gave so much problem to the family of the prophet......hazmat Kumar and hazmat Abu baker did not even attend funeral of the prophet..20 years ago there was a different answer and now there is different answer ..there is only row ways are you with the family of the prophet or are you not.if you are with prophet then you should not love the people who gave problem to prophet family I am not Shia nor Suni but I believe prophet family words like the last speech of bib zanaib should open every one eyes...there is no fight between Shia and Sunil this is created by wahabis and ddeo bandis my father says there was not or never issue over sahabas it started like 50 years ago but when zia lanity came to power ever thing went wrong.Everest Shia imams which was the prophet family were killed ...think over it....please all Muslims ,,,,

  21. Assalam !!! The article is well laid but do we only rely on hadiaaths. Well we know what is ismah of Prophet (SAWAW). Once we talk of our Prophet (SAWAW) we say he never ever did a shirk even once he didnt announce his Prophethood. With regards to Prophet (SAWAW) we talk about their ismah and ismah of Hazrat Abu Talib (AS). The protector and the father of Prophet (SAWAW) were following the true religion of Islam may be shariah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). AS we came to this point we see the recitation of Allah's greatness in the Nikkah of Prophet (SAWAW) with Hazrat Khadija (AS) by Hazrat Abu Talib (AS). Now can we believe that the this ismah all of sudden goes missing once it comes to the marraige of Prophets' daughters except Hazrat Fatima (AS). Moreover, why Prophet SAWAW always talk of only Fatima (AS) and stand for her once in some gathering etc etc. Why our Prophet (SAWAW) never ever mentioned about other daughters and stand for them as well. Nazobillah, you people are making no sense here by challenging the ismah of Prophet (SAWAW) and his behaviour towards other daughters as compared to Hazrat Fatima (AS) injustice.

  22. continue.... Now we know that, Prophet married Hazrat Khadija (AS) at the age of 25 and announces His (SAWAW) Prophet hood at the age of 40. According to many historians (may be wrong but proof u need to seek), during these years she gave birth to only Hazrat Qasim (AS) who died and all other were born after the announcement of Prophet Hood. Now we know that after seven of years of Announcement, the Prophet (SAWAW) was forced to live in Shab e Abi Talib for three years and no hadiaath or riwayat (historical account) says the Hazrat Khadija (SA) gave birth to any child during this period. Now lets see, what we conclude with aqal (logic answer of mind) from this. She (AS) gave birth of all other children less Qasim (AS) during seven years i.e once Prophet (SAWAW) was 40 years old till 7 years before sahbe abi talab incident i.e 47 years old. And those children grew up married to non muslims and then given divorce on announcement of Prophet hood by Prophet (SAWAW). What an ironic logic is this. Brother Nader please proof your article with birth dates and references. According to the historical account, Once Prophet (SAWAW) got injured in Ahad, only Hazrat Fatima (AS) came and nursed Him (SAWAW), where were other daughters. We all know what Abu Lahab (LA) did by placing some dirt on the back of Prophet (SAWAW) what happened, who all came to wash that away, do we have names of other daughters as well. At the time of announcement of Prophet hood (if these daughters were already born - (yet to be establish historical account which you need to provide) then we see the first day Hazrat Khadija and Umme Amen wife of Zaid bin Harris accept Islam but in History we dont find the names of other daughters of Prophet accepting Islam as they were supposed to be married with non muslims and they were supposed to accept Islam. Brother, certain hadiaths have crept in Sheeah books has to be pitched against the historical facts of births and important events which are documented and no difference on their dates exists. Like battle dates, date of shab e abi talib, Nikkah of Lady Fatimah (AS). BTW who read the nikkah of other daughters, as we do find Prophet (SAWAW) read the Nikkah of Lady Fatima (AS) But in history and hadiaaths we do not find anywhere whether our work or the work of Ahle Sunnah that Prophet read the Nikkah of other daughters. Even once they were getting married 2nd time in case of Usman (3rd Caliph as recorded History). So please provide all these proves with dates.

    ReplyDelete
  23. continue.... Besides first hadiaath is a supplication, 2nd says marriage occurs after Ali with no real details. 3rd merely refers as per common saying daughter of of Prophet (SAWAW) as adopted or raised children are often referred as such. 4th is daeef, 5th you did mentioned the chain is rejected despite labelling it reliable, 6th is daeef as per note 10, 7th Hadeeath grading is missing, and same goes for the rest of your hadiaaths. I would like to get an update like if you post scanned images of date of birth of all the children, date of marrages of all the children and date of deaths as well. As far as supplication for their magfirah, or referring to them as Daughters of Prophet (SAWAW) i believe its a custom that who ever brought up any child are normally referred as Father. Now about last of your article touching upon the great scholars i do agree yet non of these scholars have provided any authentic historical account of birth dates. Rather they confirm that Al Qasim (AS) and Al Tahir (AS) both died in Macca as infant. So at best we conclude that those daughters were at the age of and Eldest one according to Ibne Hisham was Al Qasim wheras youngest was Al Tahir, Among them were Ruqqaiah (RA), Zainab (RA), Ume Kalsoom (RA) and Lady Fatimah (AS)Ref your post of Jaffar Subhanni, which i say not in order as he says so. As i told earlier, 15 years after marraige Prophet (SAWAW) declare his Prophethood and invite people to Islam, lets consider that the children were born before that then at best we may claim that the eldest daughter may be near 9 years of age yet the other one might be even younger and gatting married agin a big question mark. So we need to re visit the historical facts and figures. By all means i do respect your entire post an effort worth reading but as i said i still need a clear analysis on this as many of Shia researchers have proved it otherwise like some one earlier quoted Mir Murad Khan article. Assalam n Iltemaas e Dua.
