The Conception of Fatima

Here is a Hasan(Good) hadeeth about how FaaTimah (عليها السلام) was conceived. This hadeeth is a fairly lengthy, but I am only narrated the relevant part about FaaTimah’s (عليها السلام) conception.

There is a little bit of ikhtilaaf (disagreement) about the primary narrator (`Abd Al-Salaam bin SaaliH), whether or not if he was an `Aami (Sunni) or a Shee`ah. Al-Khoei in his Mu`jam Rijaal Al-Hadeeth and Al-Tafreeshee in his Naqd Al-Rijaal have said that he is a Shee`ah. While earlier scholars such as Al-Toosi and Al-Hillee have stated that he is an `Aami (Sunni). Even if we were to say he was a Sunni, the hadeeth will only be lowered to Muwaththaq (Reliable), because it is 100% established that `Abd Al-Salaam bin SaaliH Aboo Al-Salt is thiqah (trustworthy).

From `Abd Al-Salaam bin SaaliH Al-Harawee (Aboo Al-Salt) said: I said to `Alee bin Moosa Al-RiDaa (عليه السلام): “….And the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: ‘When I was taken to the heavens, Jibra’eel (عليه السلام) took me by my hand, and I entered Jannah. Then, he (Jibra’eel) gave me from the heavenly dates, and I ate it. Then that altered my sperm in my loin. So when I returned to the earth, I had sexual intercourse with Khadeejah (عليها السلام), and FaaTimah(عليها السلام)  was conceived, and FaaTimah (عليها السلام)  is a human Hooree. So whenever I yearn the scent of Jannah, I smell the scent of my daughter, FaaTimah (عليها السلام)’”

  1. What exactly is a hooree? Is it a generic term for a women of Jannah?

  2. A Hooree is a beautiful virgins that Allaah (SWT) has promised his faithful servants in paradise. Allaah (SWT) has described them in the Qur'aan here.

  3. What about a fact that Fatima (r.a) was born before meraj?

  4. Shaikh Abbas Qummi has explained this in Baitul Ahzan by quoting the hadith of Imam al Sadiq(as) that Prophet(PBUH) had me'raj 120 times.

Therefore, Shaikh Abbas Qummi says this objection is not valid since Prophet(PBUH) had meraj multiple times.

  5. Is it possible to see something authentic on that?

  6. Salaam Brother.

Does this ahadith not contradict Al-Quran which mentions Meraj after birth of Hadhrat Fatima (s.a)? If Meraj had occured more than once and also before the birth of Hadhrat Fatima (s.a) then why did ALLAH (SWT) mention one particular Meraj in HIS (SWT) Book?

    1. Read the Qur'an and research the past events. Allah (SwT) only mentions the necessary names or events in His book. Does Allah (SwT) mention everything the Prophet (S) went through during his life? You want Allah (SwT) to mention everything that the Prophet (S) went through in His book? Allah (SwT) will only mention what He wills because what He wills is what is necessary, not what you will. It is an undeniable fact there are even secrets we do not know about the Prophet (S) and only an obstinate ignorant fool will deny that. And no again, the Qur'an is not a divinely revealed BIOGRAPHY of the Prophet (S).
