When did the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله consummate with `Aa'ishah?

السلام عليكم

I have noticed a lot of shee`ahs try to go after the age of `aa’ishah saying that she was not 9 years old when she married the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله but she was as some say 14 – 17 years old. I have always seen the Shee`ahs use Sunnee hadeeth to prove that she wasn’t 9 years old, but I have always wondered what is said about her age when she married the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله?

Here is a SaHeeH hadeeth that shows that `Aa’ishah, the wife of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله, was indeed 10 years old when they were married, for sure.

“The Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله entered upon (had sexual intercourse with) `Aa’ishah when she was 10 years old, and that one doesn’t enter (upon) a jaariyah (girl) until she became a woman.”
Source:
1.       Al-Kulayni, Al-Kaafi, vol.7, pg. 388, hadeeth # 1
2.       Al-Toosi, Tahdheeb Al-aHkaam, vol. 6, ch. 91, pg. 251, hadeeth # 49
3.       Al-`Aamilee, Wasaa’il Al-Shee`ah, vol. 1, ch. 4, pg. 44, hadeeth # 75
Grading:
1.       Al-Majlisi said this hadeeth is SaHeeH
è  Mir’aat Al-`Uqool, vol. 24, pg. 235
2.       Al-Majlisi said this hadeeth is SaHeeH Mawqoof (Authentic Halted)
è Milaadh Al-Akhyaar, vol. 10, pg. 102

In this context, when the word “dakhala” (entered) is used, it is used as a nice way of saying “intercourse”. As you can see that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله was married with `Aa’ishah by the time she was 10 years for sure, since it says he “entered upon” `Aa’ishah.

  2. yes i reject this completely and history tell us that asma bint abi bakr was 10 years older than ayesha asma was 27 years old just before hijra so ayesha was 17 year old then. and marriage happened 1 or 2 years after hijra so she was 18 or 19 years old.

and the narration from ismaeel doesn't bear any weight because even though he was thiqat then this hadith was used to show that he was not an imam as said commentator of al-kafi.

  3. So you take historical reports over someone who is a member of the ahl al-bayt? with a saheeh isnaad? Brother, how logical is that?

Also, what you failed to mention is that the reason why Al-Majlisi said that this showed that he wasn't an Imaam, was NOT because of the age of `Aa'ishah that was given, actually he never says anything about that. The reason Al-Majlisi said that the reason he isn't an Imaam is because in that hadeeth he used Qiyaas, which is haraam in shee`ah islaam.

  4. so this marriage took place 1400 years ago.period. Now please tell us is it wise for us muslims or for those who stand by the hadiths(on the age of bibi Aisha's marriage)to allow a young girl to marry a very old man?what brains or means does such a young girl have to lead a married life with an old man who himself is on the verge of death(one foot in the grave and one foot on a banana peel).in this world what are the chances of a widowed child bride getting re married again?(specially in society of pakistan or india whereby getting married once in a lifetime is an achievement)Medical science has proofed that mortality rate, health issues are more prevalent in child brides then in girls who have developed body structure.YOU all who stand by these hadiths are YOU willing to allow your daughters to marry at the age of 6 or 9 or even 10?look into Yemen or Somalia where these cases are prevalent because of these hadiths relating to the age of marriage of Aisha r.a.there is an issue with the child brides in these countries.these girls have social issues in re marrying.many of them are first abused by the circumcision rituals and then sexual intercourse for the first time whereby some bleed to death or cannot enjoy sex because of genital fibulation and then when giving birth the pelvic region is too narrow to allow natural birth and thus leaving many of them suffering from incontinence for the rest of there lives.Am a muslim and i do NOT believe that a girl should get married at such a young age to pacify the lust of an old man.It is said that the marriage of Aisha r.a was for a purpose that is for education(she related most of the hadith) but according to many scholars of modern time her age is disputed(according to hadith recorded) just as many other recorded hadiths are disputed as to there origins.for those reading this blog please read the article by Madam Ruqaiya waris Maqsood the age of bibi Aisha r.a on her marriage..(i believe thats the correct name)In muslim society we are and have been blessed to have female scholars too.My message is to do away with child brides in muslim society. we muslims have become the joke or the bane of this world.we profess to have a justfull religion YET we allow unjustice to remain or prevail on our female population.MUSLIMS please get educated OR so called muslim scholars please change the way of living and thinking of the jahiliya of the muslim ummah.

  5. i know ALLAH swt is the judge of these crimes of lust and injustices(this is why we muslims believe in qiyamah the day of judgement and reckoning whereby the sinner and the unjust will be punished ) but ALLAH swt does not say that human being has no intellect as to what is good or bad for him or for her.Marrying of young girls was an arab/african tradition in those days but unfortunately times and way of life has changed now and SO a change should be made as to the legal age of marriage in muslim countries(at least saudi arabia is taking a positive change to the ire of traditionists who are wary of the goings on regarding child brides but are afraid that changing to new law will mean going against hadiths or traditions which means those who leave the traditions of the PROPHETsaw are not of the ummah of the PROPHETsaw which equals to apostasy.(i hope the saudi scholars and there like see that this was an arab custom and not an order by ALLLAH SWT to marry small girls.

  6. Brother, this isnt the View of All Shias
There are Scholars who disagree with this.
For example Alamah Askari says Aisha was 14 when Aisha was married to the Prophet
So this isnt our Final stance, even if Majlisi says its Saheeh
